Persistent orofacial pain is one of the most challenging areas of dentistry. Patients with persistent pain rarely respond to typical dental treatments. Often there are underlying psychosocial factors that have predisposed patients to persistent pain. Also, initiating and perpetuating factors for persistent pain must be considered. This lecture will explore various factors that result in persistent orofacial pain and subsequently provide a blueprint for management.
