Antibiotic wars: Revenge of the bacteria

Presentation Description

Antibiotics and antimicrobials are widely used in dental therapy. Although benefits of antibacterial therapy are well documented, the emergence and spread of antibiotic resistance among bacterial pathogens has become a major threat to public health. Emerging science offers alternatives to killing bacteria. Biofilm inhibition extends the effect from mechanical removal of the plaque. Inflammation regulation mitigates the detrimental effects. This course will trace the causes of antimicrobial resistance in humans and guide the practitioner in the selection of the right medicine for each individual patient to optimization of dental care and minimize complications.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Distinguish your practice with mindful holistic medicine.
2. Translate biofilm science into practical solutions for your patients.
3. Utilize precision metrics to distinguish between health and disease.
