Presentation Description

This presentation will discuss the management of the caries lesion that has changed from drill and fill to treat the disease.
This seminar will focus on managing the caries lesion from its earliest inception at the surface, discuss remineralization of early lesions, management of deeper lesions utilizing caries arrest technologies and management of deep lesions by preservation of the vital pulp utilizing bio-ceramics. Caries arrest and prevention, minimal surgical intervention techniques and conservative restorations preserve the tooth intact longer and are less likely to require replacement.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Identify new caries classifications that will allow for management of early and deep caries lesions
2.  Identify diagnostic and treatment strategies for deep caries lesions that preserve the vitality of the tooth through the lifetime
3. Determine patient risk and management strategies for maintaining the dentition a lifetime.
4. Application of minimal intervention techniques and conservative restorations.
